Cross Country Season is in full swing now as teams are solidifying themselves as powers in their conferences and regions. Check out which athletes stood out this week with spectacular performances.
Kyera Frank (Virginia St)- the twins are at it again as they place 1-2 in the Trojan Invitational. Last week Kyla was victorious over Kyera. However, Kyera put a monster performance as she won handily with a time of 19:23 which was two minutes over her sister.
Ashley Jean-Raymond (North Carolina Central)- in a loaded field at the Adidas XC Challenge, Jean-Raymond held her own by finishing 58th overall in the Women's 5k. Her time of 19:30 is over a 1 minute PR for the sophomore. Look for her to continue dropping as the season continues.
Auriela Jepkorir (Maryland-Eastern Shore)- after a 3rd place finish the week before, Jepkorir drops her 5k PR by 26 seconds to win MD Eastern Shore XC Invite. She handily defeated the field by over 41 seconds.
Regan Kimtai (North Carolina A&T)- Kimtai showed he is one of the top runners in the conference and in the region with his great performance against some nationally ranked teams (Michigan and NC State). At the Adidas XC Challenge, he finished 5th in the Men's 6k with a time of 17:54 just 11 seconds behind the winner. This should bode well as he looks to win the MEAC championship this year.
Micah Kipruto (Virginia Union)- Kipruto finishes first for the second weekend in a row. Since they ran on the course a week prior, he knew the landscape better and improved his time by 9 seconds. His time of 24:39 was over 2 minutes from his next competitor.
Tatiana Ogundeko (Coppin State)- after winning the DSU Invite, Ogundeko follows up with a PR at the MD Eastern Shore XC Invite. Her 2nd place finish is a 30 sec PR and a great trend for her as she turns into the important meets of the season.
Rebekah Wynn (Tennessee State)- Wynn runs a over 1 minute PR as she places 17th at APSU XC Festival. Her time of 19:39 is her best since last year's time of 20:45. Look for her to continue to drop time throughout the season.
