Some teams opened up their Cross Country Seasons this past weekend with some great performances. Let's look at some of the top runners from the HBCU athletes.
Fred Chepyegon (Grambling)- Chepyegon won the Southern University XC Invitational. He won by over 1 minute with a time of 18:43 in the Mens 6K.
Festus Kemboi (Florida A&M)- Kemboi finished 23rd overall at the Montevallo Falcon Classic. He ran a time of 25:43 behind his teammate Kiprop.
Brian Kiprop (Florida A&M)- Kiprop finished 13th overall at the Montevallo Falcon Classic. He ran a time of 25:24 in a top heavy race where 26 other athletes who ran under 26 minutes.
Naomi Kiprop (Grambling)- Kiprop won the Southern University XC Invitational. She easily won with time of 19:27, which was almost 1 minute from her nearest competitor.
Sabria Wooten (Alabama A&M)- Wooten finished 18th at the University of North Alabama Cross Country Open. Her time of 19:43 is a PR for her and a great start to the season.
Tatiana Ogundeko (Coppin State)- Ogundeko won the DSU Hornet Invite with a time of 19:44. She won handily by over 30 seconds.
Mercy Rotich (Florida A&M)- Rotich finished 14th at the Montevallo Falcon Classic with a time of 19:06.
Arion Spann (Alabama State)- Spann runs well for the second week in a row as she finished 15th at the Montevallo Falcon Classic with a time of 19:06.
